Gerry's mod is still around? I remember playing around with it in what, 2004? It was fun for maybe 15 minutes, then I moved on..

World War 2 is the backdrop for so many video games.. portrayals of Nazis or Nazi symbols that would be banned here are nothing new or even controversial. How do you do Wolfenstein without swastikas?

Displaying a symbol does not equal glorification. I think this goes too far..

Completely unsurprising that you'd be against something taking the unequivocal stance that Nazis are bad.

That kind of reminds me of how the game Caves of Qud started getting review bombed because the dev team told a contingent of loud assholes in their Discord (paraphrased) "No we will not make the Putus Templars a playable faction. Stop asking. They're the bad guys. They're explicitly fascist eugenecists. You're supposed to hate them, not want to be them."

Trolls like to see a rule and then dance right up to the line. And complain that they were following the rules when they are inevitably banned.

Broad rules are better. Mods can decide what does or doesn't violate it.

You can't expect a mere mod to distinguish the nuance between a swastika on a Hindu temple and one on a panzer tank.
